A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
This clarifies that everyone has the right to own and carry firearms, knives, swords or any other weapons we want. The founders of this country believed that we the people should posses the arms so there would be a defense of the opposing government. The government could just push us around if they were the only ones with weapons. The government can not be trusted.
The constitution is in action because its fighting for the right of the people to have any weapons that they want but they cant over due the freedom or infringe it. If they do then of course there is a punishment.
I feel that this is a good idea because if only the government could have weapons then it would be like slavery because they would force us to do things we don't want to. They could kill us because we dont have any self defense.
